Rosamira Guillen

Board Director, Wildlife Conservation Network

Rosamira is a proud Colombian and the Director of Proyecto Tití, the leading effort to save the cotton-top tamarin, one of the world's most endangered primates found only in the tropical forests of northern Colombia. She first encountered the species and the project while serving as Executive Director of the Barranquilla Zoo, joined soon after, and has led the organization since 2008. Under her direction, Proyecto Tití secured critically endangered status for the cotton-top tamarin, protected more than 13,500 acres of forest, established a national program for cotton-top conservation, and expanded the community and education programs that give local Colombians a direct stake in protecting their forests.

Rosamira holds degrees in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Management. Her work has been recognized with the CARACOL Award for Environmental Conservation (2014), the Whitley Award (2015), the National Geographic/Buffett Award for Leadership in Conservation (2017), and the Latin-American Green Award (2019).
