Matthias Medert

Global Head of Sustainability, SAP

Matthias is SAP’s Global Head of Sustainability, responsible for embedding environmental and social priorities into SAP’s core business steering. His work is centered on three areas essential to corporate transformation: reducing carbon emissions in line with sciencebased pathways, safeguarding human rights across global operations and supply chains, and ensuring ethical and responsible use of AI in products and governance.

Matthias’ sustainability leadership builds on more than 25 years in senior executive roles across SAP’s global business landscape. Over his career, he has led and developed global teams of more than 300 professionals across over 40 countries, working in transformation, operations, compliance, executive strategy, and customer
facing functions. This breadth enables him to translate sustainability goals into credible implementation, robust governance, and businessrelevant outcomes.

Beyond SAP, Matthias advises social enterprises and NGOs and is the author of a book on practical approaches toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Technische Universität Darmstadt.
