James Gowen serves as the Senior Vice President of New Revenue Generation and Chief Sustainability officer at Verizon. In his role as Senior Vice President of New Revenue Generation, Jim leads the ambitious transition of converting strategic cost centers into dynamic profit centers—a shift that extracts maximum value from existing infrastructure and internal capabilities. Beyond mere optimization, Jim acts as a primary architect of Verizon’s next-generation operating model, driving a culture of continuous evolution that ensures the enterprise remains lean, agile, and aggressively positioned to capitalize on emerging market opportunities.
As Chief Sustainability Officer, he leads the company’s sustainable growth strategies.He also oversees initiatives being implemented across Verizon including enhancements to energy source resiliency, e-waste reduction and recycling, and management of end-of-life-cycle material recovery.
