Greg Piefer

As founder and CEO of SHINE, Greg Piefer is leading the transition to the fusion economy – the shift from a civilization built on chemical energy to one built on nuclear energy. His passion is the growth of technology companies that take scientific advancement to commercialization, providing the opportunity to serve and better humanity. Greg holds a PhD in nuclear engineering and BS degrees in physics, and electrical and computer engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

With $1B in funding, SHINE is the only company making fusion technology commercially viable today. SHINE was the first to develop new nuclear technology licensed by the NRC in decades and runs the highest steady-state fusion rate ever achieved by humans. Most recently, SHINE announced collaborations with GE Vernova, the White House and others on recycling nuclear waste.
