Alfred Johnson

Co-Founder & CEO, Crux

Alfred’s career spans entrepreneurship, financial markets, software, and the federal government. Prior to founding Crux, Alfred served as Deputy Chief of Staff of the US Department of the Treasury. He previously cofounded and successfully exited Mobilize, his first technology company. Before Mobilize, Alfred worked on financial crisis related issues at BlackRock and the US Treasury. He also served as Special Assistant to the White House Chief of Staff.


Alfred is the host of the Critical Capital podcast, a sharp interview-driven show examining how the intersecting forces of finance, policy, and technology shape the future of energy. He is a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations and an Aspen Institute Finance Leaders Fellow. Alfred holds an MBA and BA from Stanford University where he played Defensive End on the varsity football team.
