Make sure you don’t pass up your opportunity to attend Clean and Resilient Power: Preparing the Grid for 2030 and Beyond with Barbara Humpton, Chief Executive Officer of Siemens USA and Marsia Geldert-Murphey, 2024 President, American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
Modernizing the grid may be the most consequential investment we make this decade. Why? Because it sits at the center of two national goals – accelerating decarbonization and advancing economic growth. Both require the availability of reliable, affordable, and clean power, with demands for that power continuing to skyrocket and resiliency against the effects of climate change an imperative. In this session, Siemens U.S. CEO Barbara Humpton and ASCE President Marsia Geldert-Murphey will discuss what steps we can take today that promise to make the most impact by 2030 and beyond.
Barbara Humpton is President and CEO of Siemens Corporation, where she guides the company’s strategy and engagement in serving the company’s largest market. Siemens USA employs approximately 45,000 people serving customers in all 50 states and Puerto Rico and generated $19.9 billion in revenue in fiscal year 2023. She views the true purpose of technology as expanding what’s humanly possible. She’s also passionate about diversity, STEM education and what she calls a work life blend that honors her priorities both at Siemens and as a grandmother.
American Society of Civil Engineers 2024 President Marsia Geldert-Murphey leads the society of over 160,000 members of the civil engineering profession in 177 countries. Geldert-Murphey’s extensive ASCE activities include chairing the Public Policy and Practice Committee and service on several Society-level committees such as program and finance, leader training, and diversity and women. She earned her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at South Dakota State University and master’s degree at Missouri University of Science and Technology.
