FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEW YORK, NY (June 15, 2021) – The Nest Summit, the official event partner of Climate Week NYC, by the Climate Group, announced today it will bring the award-winning “Decade of Change” global photography exhibit, procured by 1854 Media and the British Journal of Photography, to New York City for the first time.
The exhibition, to be unveiled at the Javits Center in New York City during Climate Week NYC, September 21-22, 2021, has been made possible through partnerships with 1854 Media and the British Journal of Photography and The Climate Museum. Each work was evaluated and chosen for display by a team of judges including Terry Tamminen, former CEO of the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation; Paul Dickinson, Founder and Executive Chairman of CDP; Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim, President of the Association for Indigenous Women and Peoples of Chad (AFPAT); and Miranda Massie, Director of The Climate Museum.
The result is a global creative response to the climate crisis; two series, 40 single images, and one moving image form a stunning visual display that addresses climate change in different ways with the goal of galvanizing change.
“From the mountains of Northern India – where people are building their own glaciers to provide water during the summer months – to environmental activist Greta Thunberg at a protest in Berlin, these unique and stunning works depict the faces of climate change and its impact on the world,” says Heloise Winstone, Award Production Manager for 1854 Media, publisher of the British Journal of Photography. “We’re delighted to partner with The Nest Summit to bring these works to Climate Week NYC.”
“Personally, the saying ‘Act locally, think globally’ suits me,” says Decade of Change Series Winner Evangelos Daskalakis. “The struggle of the natives in Ecuador is nothing more than a small piece in the common mosaic of the struggle against the destruction of our natural world, against the injustice and exploitation of man to man and nature.”
“The ‘Decade of Change’ tells the stories of the impacts of climate change on people and wildlife around the world,” says Britton Jones, Chairman & CEO of NXT Events Media Group, owners and producers of The Nest Summit. “Our hope is that this stunning visual display will leave an imprint on the minds and hearts of all who visit it, long after Climate Week NYC ends.”
Members of the media are invited to a small, private showing prior to the main event. Register for a press pass and reach out to sonya@benecomms.io with questions.
