The Evolution of Blockchain Technology

For those who don’t know Polygon, it is a decentralized Ethereum scaling platform that enables developers to build scalable user-friendly dApps with low transaction fees without ever sacrificing security.

Polygon has more than 164 million unique user addresses with over 1.94 billion transactions occurring on its network so far.

Polygon - Overview

Safe to say, it is a leader in its industry. But being a leader is a privileged position, and there is nothing more necessary than leveraging it to serve others and create a better world for all.

It’s becoming increasingly clear that blockchains offer potential to elevate solutions to some of our most critical problems through transparency and adaptability. The technology can be utilized by other industries to support positive impact outcomes.

“Blockchain sustainability can be about more than operating responsibly; Polygon sees blockchain as a technology that has the potential to support and scale lasting positive impact on the world, helping create a healthier, fairer, thriving planet.” Stefan Renton, Sustainability Lead @ Polygon

Polygon sees the potential to redefine value creation and evolve the economy from extractive and unbalanced to regenerative and inclusive. It aims to offer a new foundation for climate and social solution architects to innovate and produce new tools for a better world. Polygon wants to communicate this potential, assist in facing humanity’s greatest present challenges, and invest in proposed solutions.

Their role moving forward is to act as a base layer for collaboration between climate action leaders, conscious technologists, scientists and the Polygon community to innovate and develop new solutions to our most critical problems. They are leveraging our core products and services to accelerate action and protect tomorrow.

In mid-September, Ethereum will transition from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake. This will reduce network energy consumption by 99.9%.
Both Carbon reduction and energy related emissions are only single metrics assessed by Polygon. Polygon is also beginning to assess other areas including its wider scope 3 emissions.

In Polygon’s talk at The Nest Summit Campus, they will explore the current narrative and environmental concerns related to blockchain technology, how the technology is evolving to be much more efficient, and how it can play a role in providing new and scaling existing instruments that help us to create a planet friendly future.
